INTERVIEW WITH MARGARET CARRERO
A revealing interview
with author
Margaret
Carrero, speaking about
her first book,
WAKE
UP: A Seed Of Thought
and  the lessons she
learned in the process.
Q: I've read WAKE UP and I must say it's
such a moving book- personal yet
relatable.  What inspired you to write a
motivational book such as this?

A:  Well, I didn't start out thinking, 'Oh, let
me write a motivational kind of book.'  I
wasn't even thinking of writing a book.  My
brother Larry died five years ago from
cancer and in the process of my grieving, I
experienced a spiritual meditation which
changed the whole outlook of my life.  I felt
a nudging from God in my spirit to share
what I went through and what I learned.
What I'm still learning.

Q: Everything you went through with losing
your brother must've sent you in an
emotional tailspin.

A:  It did.  I tried to continue going about
my life, not wanting to feel the pain of my
loss.  I got caught up in the ego process-
trying to look outside of myself for
validation and love, looking for someone
to fill up a void that opened up once Larry
died.  I got into an unhealthy relationship
that would've destroyed me if I had stayed.
I was looking for comfort and love and you
reach out for whatever you can when
you're hurting.  It was during this time I had
a meditative spiritual experience that was
other worldly.  It lifted me up just enough
to be filled with the  joy and fullness of the
Lord, a glimpse into heaven and I realized
that I didn't have to die to know the reality
of heaven.  Once I gave my struggle with
ego to God, it freed me to unleash my
spirit.

Q: So would you say  Ego vs. Spirit is a
major theme in the book?

A: Definitely.  When you're caught up in
ego, your spirit isn't open.  It's not open to
God's love.
Even now I'm completely aware of
spirit, I still have ego moments.
It's the struggle of life.  Once
you're able to seep yourself in
spirit, you realize the peace and
love you're seeking comes from
within.Not outside.  You can
experience heaven here on Earth
but we have to claim it.

Q: What was the hardest thing
about writing WAKE UP?

A: The memories.  Larry went
through 9 painful months from
diagnosis to dying- surgery,
chemotherapy, radiation
treatments.  The daily caring of
him, knowing he was going to
pass away, remembering those
days were extremely painful.  But,
it was the best thing I could've
done by getting it all out and
putting it on paper.

Q: What's the most rewarding
part?

A:  Knowing it's available for all to
read.  I had to share the message
God gave me with other people.
Those seeking peace, joy, love-
it's in yourself.  You don't have to
seek outside.  You don't need
anything but the spirit of God
within you to have the
contentment you're looking for.  I
was divinely inspired to write
WAKE UP and it's been a blessing
being a vessel to God and
sharing His message.

Q: Are there any other
inspirational books in your future?
A: Yes, there is because it's how I
live my life.  I am aware of my
awareness, if that makes any
sense.  Everything I do, the spirit
of God is growing.  As I learn
these lessons for myself, I'd like
to share those to help others.  I
started out writing poetry, playing
with words.  Expressing myself.  It
progressed and here I am now.  I
would love to do a poetry book of
inspiring messages- the world
needs more positivity, more light
and love.  We have to start one
person at a time but as a
collective, we'd really make a
difference.  I'd like to do a few
stories, I'm working on a
screenplay and who knows
maybe even a movie!

Q: Any advice for those feeling a
call from God to write?

A; If you feel a nudging from God,
do it, embrace it.  Understand
and truly know that you as an
individual are part of a greater
whole.  The body is one thing but
the spirit another.  The spirit is
the breath of life from God- your
true identity.  Seek what you  can,
nurture the spirit.  We all have
great potential that hasn't been
nurtured.  We can help others to
see what they have in
themselves.  And give thanks for
the message and the talent
because it's a blessing.
